Thanks

Several manufacturers out there make various loads for a variety of calibers....Cor-Bon for one, has always had a reputation for loading "Hot" rounds

Make sure if you're using hot loads, your gun is in good shape

I have some SPEER gold dot 38 SPL+P 135 grain GDHP's that I use. Best thing I have researched as of a few years ago. A lot of police departments have switched from federal hydrashok to speer gold dot, I think the claim is that shooting through windshields is better with the gold dots.

I'm a big fan of Remington Golden Saber +P

I was going to try this stuff in my wheel gun. They sound real nasty.

Re: 38 Special ammo question

If you feed potent ammo in light 38 snubbies sometimes the recoil will unseat the bullets which will then protrude out the front of the cylinder thus preventing the cylinder from rotating.

Re: 38 Special ammo question

It is my understanding that you should not shoot +P in your revolver unless you are certain that it is rated to handle that. Check it out with the manufacturer unless is states +P on the firearm, cough cough, like mine does.

I really enjoyed this article on self defense loads for the .38 special snubbie.

Page loads a little slow, but the article is pretty informative.

Cor-Bon Pow'R Ball .38 Special: 100-grain bullet at 1400 fps = 435 ft-lbs. of muzzle energy, which approaches .357 Mag levels.
